About

I am a wife and mother, career woman, perpetual student and urban farmer. That last part was mainly out of necessity. My journey back to health began several years ago. Along the way I learned to insist on answers, question everything, and take nothing for granted. I fought to remain positive when it seemed my struggle would never end and refused to accept suggestions to accept the unacceptable.

Grow It Yourself

Farm to table is great, especially when it is your farm and your table! In my quest for answers, I picked up a few ideas that really stuck. One of those is the belief in sourcing your own food. Anyone can grow a few herbs and vegetables and the best part is, you know what is in them. Our little slice of heaven started with a little garden. As it grew, we added a few chickens. Next came the honey bees. If I can inspire just a few others to grow what they eat along the way, well, that is a bonus.

Positive Vibes

Living with a long-term illness is hard, but not impossible. I know first-hand how frustrating and down-right humiliating it can be. For years I felt like no one could truly understand what I was going through. I didn’t understand it. Looking on the bright-side is difficult when your world seems dark, but the trick is to focus on that tiny sliver of light shining through the cracks. Rather than worry about what I can’t do, I embrace the things I can. Instead of bemoaning the things Myasthenia Gravis has cost me, I look at all I have gained. A deeper appreciation for simple things, like walking and talking with a voice other can hear, because sometime I can’t do either. New adventures have replaced those I might have had, and I choose to be happy. My goal is to create a safe space to share hardship and success. A place to commiserate on the bad days and celebrate the good.
