Godless Nation

Godless Nation

"United we stand"
One Godless nation
Amidst the rubble and ruin
Of our own devastation
"In God we trust"
Is our nation's creed
Freedom of religion
Is what we preach
But one man's right
Would be our fall
For he had the right
Never to hear God at all
He had the right
To no prayer in school
I suppose he was offended
By God's holy rule

He had the right
Not to view upon courthouse walls
The Ten Commandments
Which once adorned the halls
He had the right
Not to hear the Pledge of Allegiance
If God's name was uttered
In it's obeisance
Now my Lord's tears
Fall like drops of rain
Upon the Godless nation
Founded in His name
For I had the right
To worship as I chose
'Till I let it be taken
By Liberty's foes
I had the right to pray
Anytime... anywhere
Yet I refused to speak out
Against that Godless snare
I had the right
To do obeisance
In honor of a country with God
In it's Pledge of Allegiance
I had the right
To oppose this tyrant
But I chose instead
My right to be silent

Now I stand
In a Godless nation
For I have lost the right
To speak of salvation
