Awaiting Life

Awaiting Life

Senseless killing
Needless death
Thousands of lives
In tragedy
Yesterday were spent
Lain low among rubble
Trapped…
In darkness and fear
Prayers whispered fervently
Knowing
Their end was near
Cries reached the heavens
Prayers
Fell not upon deaf ears
For God
Spread His arms
To encompass them
Kissed away their tears
 Fears and sorrow
Into His arms He welcomed them
And in that instant they knew
Death had not taken them
Rather life
Awaited them that day
